Responsible Gambling

Gambling online, and gambling in general, carries a risk. You can get into trouble if you play online more often and/or longer. We are aware of our responsibility to our players and our duty to protect players from themselves, to prevent gambling addiction. That is why we have drawn up an Addiction Prevention Policy with specialists. Below you will find several tips, tricks, and tools to play responsibly with us. All this in accordance with the requirements set out in the Wet kansspelen op afstand [Remote Gambling Act].

TIPS for Responsible Gambling

  • Play only because you enjoy it, not because you want to win a big prize.
  • Only play with money you can afford to lose, never with money earmarked for another purpose, and never borrow money to play.
  • Never play when you feel bad, lonely, sad,or bored.
  • Never play while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
  • Never try to win back your loss.
  • Set your limits realistically and lower them if necessary.
  • Only play on legal Dutch sites, such as with us, so that you are protected and can participate in licensed games of chance in a responsible manner.

If you need advice or help regarding Responsible Gambling, please feel free to contact our customer service by sending an email to: klante[email protected] or by calling: 0800 - 7777700.

If you wish, you can also request a personal meeting. They are specially trained for this and are happy to help you! We can also refer you to professional help.

Self-Assessment Test

Would you like to test your playing behaviour? Click here for the Self-Assessment Test. With this anonymous self-test in the form of a game, you can map out your playing style. The test only takes 3 minutes. Afterwards, the decisions you have made will be analysed. You will receive personal advice on how best to play responsibly.

Set limits, Time-Out and exclusion

Limits

When registering, you as a player must set your limits. This concerns:

  • A limit in terms of time
  • Max deposits
  • Max credit on the player account

These can be set per day, week and/or month. If you do not set these limits, you will not be able to register.

You will be reminded of your limits when you log in and out, and when you switch games.

Loss limit

What is a loss limit?

Our loss limit allows you to limit the amount of money you can lose over a given period. This limit is always set over a period of one calendar month. The loss limit is a net limit, meaning any money won during the limit period will be added to your loss limit amount for that calendar month. Unsettled bets will be deducted from the remaining loss limit amount in the calendar month in which they are placed, regardless of when placed bets settle. By setting a loss limit, you will not exceed the maximum budget you want to spend each month with us.

Examples of loss limits

Example 1:

You set a €100 monthly loss limit and immediately place a €100 bet on an event finishing in a future calendar month. You will be unable to make any further bets that would increase your potential loss, or the next calendar month starts.

Example 2:

You set a €100 monthly loss limit and immediately place a €100 bet on day 1. The bet settles in the same period, day 1, winning €50. Your loss limit is now €150 during this calendar month. You place a further bet of €50, which loses on day 2. You can lose a further €100 in this calendar month.

Setting a loss limit

If you are aged 24 and above, setting a loss limit is optional. For young adults, from 18 to 23 years old, there is a  automatically set standard loss limit. More information can be found below.

Loss limits for young adults

If you are a Young Adult under the age of 24 an automatic standard loss limit will be set for you. For Young Adults aged 18 to 20 this loss limit is set to €250 per calendar month. For young adults aged 21 to 23 this loss limit is set to €500. Young adults can lower their loss limit but cannot increase it over the set amount.

When a player reaches the age of 21, his loss limit is not automatically increased, but the player can now increase it manually up to a maximum of €500. The same applies when a player turns 24: the loss limit set before he turned 24 still applies, but the player can increase it.

Change limits

You can lower your limits at any time. It's not possible to raise your limits immediately. There is a 7-day waiting period for raising the limits, to protect you from impulsive decisions.

Time-out - 24 hours to 3 months

If you want to take a break from playing, you can set a time-out of 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days in your player profile. If you want to take a longer time-out, you can submit a request to customer service. They can set a time-out of maximum of 3 months for you.

During time-out, you will not be able to deposit or play, but you will still have access to your account, for example to initiate withdrawals or to check your transaction history. After your time-out is over, your deposit and gameplay blocks will be lifted automatically

You cannot shorten a time-out once set.

Exclusion for certain time slots and game types

You can also submit a request via customer service for an exclusion from participation for a certain time slot, for example during certain hours. You can also exclude yourself from a certain game play.

Self-exclusion for Jacks.nl - longer than 3 months

You can submit a request to customer service to be excluded from Jacks's for a minimum of 3 months. You will continue to have access to your player profile, but you will not be able to make deposits and participate in the licensed games. After completion of the self-exclusion, you will not be eligible for a bonus for a period of 90 days. You can also submit a request to customer service to be excluded from a particular type of games.

Exclusion from all online and offline offers

If you want to exclude yourself from the entire legal online and offline offers on the Dutch market, you can voluntarily register in CRUKS (Central Register Exclusion of Games of Chance); this is for a minimum of 6 months. If you voluntarily exclude yourself in CRUKS, you will not be eligible for a bonus for 12 months.

Should we advise you to voluntarily register in CRUKS (self-exclusion) and you do not comply with this, we have the right to submit a request to the Gaming Authority to have you included in the register. We will do this in the event of a (very) serious gambling addiction. Your loved ones also have this right. If it concerns an involuntary exclusion, you will not receive any bonus during the period of exclusion plus 6 months thereafter.

Block all online casinos

If you decide to take a longer break from gambling, we also recommend you to install a free gambling site blocking software with Gamban. Gamban blocks access to all gambling sites on all your devices. This includes also the gambling sites outside of the Dutch market. Jack's is paying for your subscription!

Interventions

We register* and monitor the player's gambling behaviour to detect excessive gambling or signs of gambling addiction. We are trained to recognize early signs of problematic gambling behaviour or possible gambling addiction.  We do this by analysing gambling behaviour and anticipating this through pop-ups, chats, emails, and phone calls. Through our stepped-care and matched-care intervention models, we use the right interventions to avert danger, so that you as a player can continue to play responsibly.

*We use internal and external resources for this.

Vulnerable groups

In our addiction prevention policy, we pay special attention to vulnerable groups. These include minors, young adults aged 18 to 24, at-risk and problem players, people with an intellectual disability and people with a previous gambling or other addiction. Thus, minors cannot register on our website. Players who are registered in CRUKS cannot register and log in. For at-risk and problem players, we apply the stepped-care and matched-care model. If it concerns a vulnerable player, a decision may be made to move to an intervention earlier.

In the best interest of the player, we have the right to exclude a player from our bonus program, impose other restrictions on the player, or suspend or close the player's account. Regarding the latter, the player will always receive an email with the reason.

Gambling Authority (Ksa) and the addiction prevention desk

In the Netherlands, the online provision of games of chance is regulated by the Kansspelen op afstand (Koa) Act. This law enables the Ksa to grant licenses under very strict conditions to providers of online games of chance on the Dutch market. The Ksa also supervises the providers of games of chance, the licensees in this case. They combat illegal gambling and protect consumers from gambling addiction.

For more information go to the website of the Kansspelautoriteit. A national prevention desk (Loket Kansspel) has been set up for (problem) players and their relatives. You can go there for information, advice and, if necessary, you can be directed to care in your own region.

Risk analysis

We have made a risk analysis of each game type, based on which a risk profile and risk potential has been determined. Please inform yourself about the risk profile of the games you play and adjust your playing behaviour accordingly. Playing a game type with a high-risk profile carries, in the long run, a higher risk of excessive gambling than playing a game (type) with a low-risk profile. You can ask Customer Service for a block on a certain type of game if you would rather not play it.
